Chinese Shar Pei

The Chinese Shar Pei is an ancient breed, originating in China over 2,000 years ago.

Bred as a guard dog and hunter, they were prized for their loyalty and strength.

With a distinctive wrinkled face and blue-black tongue, the Shar Pei is a unique breed.

They are known for their intelligence, alertness, and protective nature.

During the Cultural Revolution, the breed nearly became extinct due to the government's efforts to reduce pet ownership.

However, a few dedicated breeders kept the Shar Pei alive, and in 1973, the breed was introduced to the United States.

Today, the Shar Pei is a popular companion dog, renowned for its devotion and affection.

With its dignified and independent nature, the Shar Pei is a loyal and devoted companion.
