Terriers Breed Group and Standards

Terriers were bred to go to ground and flush out game or kill vermin and to guard their family's home or barn.

Terriers range from fairly small, such as the Norfolk, Cairn, or West Highland White Terrier, to the larger Airedale Terriers.

As they were bred to be close to humans, terriers make great pets, but they can be stubborn and need a lot of exercise as they have high energy levels.

Terrier's coats also require special grooming (known as “stripping”) to maintain a characteristic appearance.
