American Foxhound

The American Foxhound is a breed of hound that originated in the United States.

Bred to hunt foxes, they are known for their strong sense of smell and superior tracking abilities.

They are a tall, lean breed with a short, hard coat and long legs. Their heads are long and narrow, with a deep muzzle and large, drooping ears.

The American Foxhound has been around since the 1700s, when George Washington and Thomas Jefferson bred them for fox hunting.

They were used to hunt foxes in the open fields of Virginia and Maryland, and were prized for their speed and stamina.

In the 1800s, the breed was further developed by English immigrants who brought their own hounds to the United States.

The American Foxhound is now recognized by the American Kennel Club and is a popular breed for hunting and companionship.

They are loyal, friendly, and intelligent dogs that make great family pets. They need plenty of exercise and love to run and explore.

With their strong sense of smell and tracking abilities, the American Foxhound is an excellent choice for those looking for a hunting companion or a loyal family pet.
