Paul, one of our top carers in Stretford, has written up his top dog walks in Manchester.
Stretford Meadows
Stretford Meadows is a lovely spot for dog walks in Manchester. It’s a quiet country walk, leading to Sale Water Park, Chorlton and River Mersey. You can get there via Lesley Road just off Urmston Lane with parking or Poplar Road near St Matthews school.
Stretford Cricket Club
The cricket club is on Stretford Meadows and a nice spot to sit and watch the game in the summer. There are tea, coffee or alcoholic refreshments available too so you can enjoy the game with one in hand!
Littleton Road Playing Fields & River Irwell
A quiet venue with a pleasant river walk and a large flat area which is the Salford flood basin. Walk further along and there is a wildlife reserve. You can get there via Whit Lane, Littleton Road and Agecroft. There is amazing bird life at this venue.
Chorlton River Mersey
A busy but enjoyable area for dog walking. From Chorltonville there are two access routes one with plenty of parking. There are a number of trails that lead to the river Mersey. From the Mersey there is easy access to Sale and Chorlton water park. The area is dog friendly with the Jackson’s boat pub also dog friendly halfway between the two water parks.
Broadheath Central Football Club
At the bottom of Salisbury road, Broadheath, Altrincham are a number of football pitches with plenty of spare land for dog walking. Around the area are small copses of trees for your dogs to investigate. This area leads to the Bridgewater canal and a floodplain with plenty of wild life.
Work, family and social commitments mean that there often aren’t enough hours in the day to give our pets the attention that they deserve. If you’re looking for a carer in the Stretford area why not check out one of our top carers in the area, Paul McGuffog?
