TAXI DRIVERS IN UGANDA UNITE TO STOP CRUEL DOG CULLING

Taxi drives in Kampala joined forces to stop the inhumane dog culling carried out by  the KCCA (Kampala City Council Authority). The KCCA had been poisoning dogs in a nearby suburb in order to restrain the local stray dog population. But when a group of taxi drivers in another suburb called Nakawa heard they were coming their way, they immediately called the USPCA (Ugandan Society for the Protection and Care of Animals) to stop this cruel practice. Once at the scene, the USPCA realised they did not have enough space to take all the dogs, so the taxi drivers stepped in once again and offered to transport the dogs to the shelter.

Vets and pet owners are turning to medicinal marijuana to help their pets with chronic pain and illness. Vet Dough Kramer from LA stated cannabis eased his dog’s pain and improved the quality of the last weeks together. Even though the efficacy of marijuana on pets has not been scientifically proven, two companies in Seattle are selling hemp-based supplements for pets and they hope their products will lead to future research.

Julia Wylie was working as a gardener when Jess, a young Labradoodle, decide to jump in to the Thames. Julia did not think twice and jumped into to the river herself to rescue the dog, but found herself struggling to fight the strong tide. Luckily a passing river bus spotted them and rescued them both.
