Meghan And Harry’s New Dog Has An Adorable Name

We recently reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had welcomed a new royal pup into the fold, setting itself up for a life of luxury alongside the couple’s existing Beagle, Guy.

The Labrador will be a welcome addition to the family and surely a favourite of the Queen, who is said to have bonded particularly well with Guy following the death of Willow, her last Corgi.

Whilst the dog has been loving with Duke and Duchess for a couple of weeks now, its name has now been revealed – and it’s adorable…

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have named their new Labrador puppy Oz, and there’s such a cute reason behind the dog’s name!

It is royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith who revealed the name of the pup, which is to the the couple’s first together and Meghan’s third.

In addition to Guy, who lives in the UK with the royals, Meghan also has a Labrador-Shepherd cross named Bogart. Due to his age, he was unable to join Guy on the flight to the UK from Canada and now stays with Meghan’s friends on the other side of the pond.

The choice of a Labrador seems even more apt, and the couple’s choice of name is equally adorable. Whilst it is not known exactly what inspired the unusual name, the couple are set to visit Australia in October for their first foreign tour together, suggesting that Oz may be a more sentimental namesake.

As main members of the royal family are not permitted to have social media accounts, there has so far been no glimpse of the dog – although we may get a look in sooner than we think…

In previous years, Meghan had shared several pictures of her pups on social media, sending the Instagram world into a frenzy at just how cute they are. Now, however, that’s not the case, as no pictures have been released of the new addition.

Whilst the chances of a revived social media presence are, well, none, Meghan and Harry may follow the example of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who have featured their cocker spaniel ‘Lupo’ in several official portraits.
