Last weekend, the eyes of the world were transfixed on the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as the former Suits actress was welcomed into the Royal Family in spectacular style. Yet, while everyone was obsessing over the ceremony and the dress, we were far more preoccupied with one special guest. Because Meghan – now Duchess of Sussex – didn’t come alone… she also brought along her beloved beagle, Guy!
Transported to the UK from the US, Meghan rescued Guy from an adoption event at an Ontario pet store, who had previously saved him from a shelter in Kentucky where he was due to be euthanised. The event was hosted by non-profit organisation A Dog’s Dream Rescue, who swept in to save the adorable 3-year-old pooch after he was found wondering alone in the woods. Soon thereafter, he won the heart of Meghan, who promptlyinvited him into the fold.
Speaking of Guy’s story, the organisation suggested that Meghan envisioned Guy as the perfect companion for her German Shepherd mix Bogart, and recent reports have suggested that bonding with Guy has helped the Queen to deal with the recent loss of her beloved 14 year old Corgi, Willow. In fact, on the day of the wedding itself, a very regal looking Guy was spotted in the back seat of a Range Rover with her majesty herself, ready to play his part in the couple’s special day!
Guy, who is now 6 years old, has come a long way since 2015, from wandering the woods alone to living the high life in Kensington Palace and spending weekends with the Queen & co. Whilst its not known how Guy is getting along with her majesty’s Corgis, the story reads as a fitting counterpart to Meghan and Harry’s fairytale story, mirroring Meghan’s ascension to Royalty and practically making him a bonafide Prince!
How we’d love to be a fly on the wall and see all the doggy goings on inside the palace!
