Pop star Katy Perry feared for the life of her beloved dog, Nugget, after she injured herself this weekend. Fortunately, the singer’s assistant, Tamara, was close at hand to help with the situation.
According to reports, the pup fell off a bed while on a European tour supporting Perry’s latest album Witness, after which she became unresponsive. While Perry was overcome with worry, Tamara immediately ran to the rescue, issuing CPR and ultimately aiding in Nugget’s recovery.
Perry later posted a series of pictures and videos on her Instagram page, applauding Tamara’s actions and marvelling at her abilities.
“You blew in her mouth? You brought her back to life?” she asked, prompting Tamara to confess that she’d seen the CPR manoeuvre online on the site The Dodo, in a video of “a guy who saved a squirrel.”
Subsequently, Perry posted a picture of the Micro Teacup Poodle wearing a pink cast on her front right leg, with the caption: ‘She had to have an IV.’ The incident also revealed that the doctors had ‘never seen a liver so small’ as Nugget’s – see, you learn something new every day!
It is now thought that Nugget is in a good condition, and well on the way to optimum health.
What the incident does remind us, however, is the significance of knowing how to help our pets should an emergency like this happen. As a new pet owner, it’s good practice to know the signs to look out for and how to act upon them to ensure the safety of your pet.
If you want to learn how to deliver similar emergency treatments, it’s imperative that you seek veterinary advice and sufficient training first. Similarly, you should always follow up with a vet visit, where the proper tests can be carried out to ensure your pet’s wellbeing.
