Dog Sends Adorable Card After Owner With Alzheimers Dies

Dogs are known as ‘man’s best friend’ for a reason – they’re always by our side, through good and bad, and know that we give them the same unconditional love in return.

We can’t bear to think of anything bad happening to any dog and, similarly, the thought of something happening to us while they’re with us is equally harrowing.

Whilst many elderly people rely on dogs as companions, there often comes a time when they have to let them go – but, they’ll never be forgotten…

After one Grandfather had to give up his dog when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers, he always held a special place in his heart until he died – at which point the pooch sent a heartfelt message to his former family…

After the family made the heartbreaking decision to re-home the dog, named Winston, they never forgot their Grandfather’s former companion, and it seems that the dog held his old owner in similarly high regard.

Writing from abroad, the dog sent the grieving family a heartfelt card, expressing his condolences and heartbreak at the news.

Writing in the card, the dog wrote:

‘Hello,

I’m on my holidays in Spain.

I’m sorry to hear about my Dad. He was very kind to me.

Lots of Love

Winston

x’

After Winston’s former-owner’s Grandson shared the card on Twitter, it has since gone viral, being shared over 20k times and amassing over 138k likes.

Several users – us included – have admitted that the card brought a tear to their eyes, with the family admitting that they “had the tissues out earlier.”

Whilst the story is heartbreaking, we love that Winston’s new owners thought to send such a sweet gesture to his former family, and we’re sure that he never forgot the life that he used to have.
