What's better than a staycation with your four legged friend? Tailster went on a little trip with Nina the Labrador to sniff out the Jack Russell Inn in Hampshire...

First impressions

The Jack Russell Inn is hidden away on the Faccombe estate in the middle of the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Just under two hours away from London by car, it's the perfect escape from the city. The Jack Russell is home to 11 bedrooms, each named after dog breeds and with stunning views of the grounds. The Jack Russell is about as dog friendly as they come! We were treated to a warm welcome from resident canines, Betty and Barnie, and shown to our room: the Bulldog.

Lunch time!

Once Nina had established the room was up to her standards - and had a gnaw on the bones left out for her in the garden - we went in search of food. The Jack Russell Inn features a pub and restaurant serving great British produce. They have a strong focus on the conservation of the outstanding wildlife of the surrounding areas. Nina was invited to join us for lunch and enjoyed her own bowl to herself. The human food was outstanding and all freshly prepared.

Top tip: Ask the barman for a doggy beer... Your dog will be very grateful!

Time to burn off the beer!

Just 8 miles from the picturesque market towns of Andover and Newbury, we enjoyed exploring stunning scenery and historic towns in the North Wessex Downs. The options for country dog walks were endless. Stonehenge is just 30 minutes away and Highclere Castle, the setting for Downton Abbey, is just around the corner for any fans! Stonehenge and Highclere Castle are not dog friendly, but Tailster has partnered up with PetsPyjamas to offer an exclusive £15 cash back when they book a Tailster carer during their stay!

Final thoughts

The Jack Russell Inn is a superb dog friendly stay, we're torn between keeping it secret and letting everyone know about it! The rooms are all uniquely designed and we love that they're named after our favourite breeds. The staff were friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for Nina. The food was excellent and all freshly prepared. Don't forget to sign the Doggy Guestbook with a polaroid picture at the end!

Congratulations to Debra and Amber for winning our competition! Enjoy your stay at the Jack Russell Inn and £100 worth of Tailster pet care!
